Q-Sox
offers unique and effective solutions to frequent Air Change requirements in a wide variety of HVAC applications.
- Q-Sox provides an outstanding system of air distribution in facilities as wide ranging as high-tech industries, manufacturing, warehousing, large and small retail outlets and office facilities.
- Applications include cold rooms (down to -30F), sterile rooms, gymnasiums and chemical manufacturing facilities.
- Q-Sox
offers the most effective solutions to air ventilation distribution.
Q-Sox Summary
Q-Sox is an air permeable woven polyester cloth-fabric duct that discharges air at very low velocities through its multiple, microscopic spaces between threads.. Air drafts that may be associated with grills and diffusers are eliminated with Q-Sox. Traditional louvers and grills are not needed, as the transported air diffuses through the cloth-fabric weave over the entire surface area of the duct. Air distribution is completely uniform with Q-Sox .
Q-Sox selects from a choice of eight different cloth weave densities to match design air permeability for each anticipated inlet static pressure and length of duct.
Q-Sox can add optional "Linear Slots" to direct a thin stream of air along the length of duct. "Linear Slots" are used to direct air where it is needed including a) onto windows prevent condensation and b) slots located at 4 and 8 o"clock to direct air downward when heating. The width and position of the "Linear Slot" is selected to supply the appropriate percentage and direction of supply air required to satisfy the design requirement.
Q-Sox is uniquely able to distribute supply air directly where it is needed…without air drafts. Any combination of conditioned ventilated and re-circulated supply air is distributed equally out of the entire duct length. The lengths and positions of Q-Sox should be determined based on occupant locations, project requirements.and air handling unit
locations.
Q-Sox is not meant to replace sheet metal ductwork and,…trunk sheet metal ductwork is used to conduct air from the air handling unit to the cloth Q-Sox. However, sheet metal ductwork does not function the same way as cloth Q-Sox. Cloth Q-Sox supplies air in a continuous outlet at low velocity with consistent distribution along the entire length of the duct. Conventional registers and diffusers cannot do any of these four functions of cloth Q-Sox. Indeed, vinyl, solid plastic "Fabric" ductwork with perforated holes is a high velocity outlet of the same magnitude as diffusers and grills. Q-Sox is easily removed in sections, cleaned in a washing machine, is noiseless, is light weight to mount easily, decor color matching and interesting and inexpensive for architects to coordinate. Q-Sox does not function the same as sheet metal ductwork. Neither can the many special characteristics of cloth Q-Sox be provided by sheet metal ductwork. Sheet metal ductwork is not replaced by Q-Sox however, many benefits not available to sheet metal ductwork are provided by Q-Sox
.
Q-Sox provides some unique features to air distribution when used in tandem with new or existing spiral wound ducts:
- Installed metal ducting and diffusers can often add cloth-fabric duct to modify flow and velocities of air
- Velcro, zippers or hose clamps permits quick installation and attachment to metal or other cloth-fabric duct sections
- Quick removal of intermittent cloth-fabric sections allows easy cleaning of the metal portion of the system
- Metal duct support system can act a support for the cloth sections
- UL NFPA 90A-1993 Fire and Smoke Listing provides building safety and universal code compliance
- No rust or condensation can form on Q-Sox
- Color selection is unlimited – cloth ducts can be dyed to match any color palette and custom designed decals or logos can be stenciled or silk screened to match any customer desire.
